BEMAC presents EMERGE: CULTIVATE

In July BEMAC will be presenting a one-day workshop and mentoring program for women and non-binary individuals called CULTIVATE. Are you a female or non-binary aspiring singer-songwriter of culturally diverse heritage? Would you like to share songs and music from your country and learn new music from other cultures?

The CULTIVATE program is part of BEMAC’s 2018 EMERGE Professional Development Series, and is designed to help build supportive networks, provide potential for song writing collaborations and build skills and confidence for participants.

Led by Pauline Maudy and Greta Kelly of multi-award-winning Brisbane group MZAZA, and who share a passion for world music and belief that music has the capacity to heal and sustain people through difficult times, CULTIVATE is a FREE, full-day program that will take place at the Queensland Multicultural Centre on Saturday, July 21 from 10AM to 8PM.

Participants will be encouraged to share music from their culture, with Pauline and Greta giving tips on singing, performing or instrumentation. CULTIVATE will also be a chance for participants to meet and play music with other local women.

Program Outcomes:

  • Pride in culture
  • Exploration or artistic identity
  • Knowledge sharing
  • Awareness of strengths and areas of focus
  • Opportunities for collaboration
  • Music mentoring

If you would like to take part in this fantastic mentorship opportunity, free of charge, please get in contact with BEMAC on admin@bemac.org.au or 07 3391 4433 or fill in the online EOI form HERE or download a copy the Word doc BEMAC Cultivate EOI
