Pasifika Wave presents Marks of Mana

Marks of Mana explores the sacred tatau practise of Papuan Makmak, Moko Kauae, Fijian Veiqia, and the Samoan Malu. The film follows the journey of several Pasifika women who are reclaiming the art of tatau in memory of their ancestors.
Join them at QMC for their next pop-up screening followed by a Q & A with Marks of Mana director/producer Lisa Taouma, tatau artist Julia Gray (Mage’au : Melanesian Marks), star weaver Maryann Talia Pau & Lanatina from House of Iliganoa.
Immerse yourself in spoken word by poet Vika Mana, Fijian meke by Matana & Samoan siva (dance) by Pasifika University collective. Umu Kitchen will be selling contemporary island food whilst Redbelly curates the soundscape. There will also be a pop-up art exhibition.
